It's a pleasure to meet you
My name is Nina Sherburne, I'm the founder and coach at Mighty Oaks Parenting LLC, and I can't wait to start this journey together. Before we begin, let me tell you a bit about myself.
In 2017 I received my Foundations training in Magda Gerber's Educaring® Approach through the RIE® organization and Polly Elam & Associates. Previously, I graduated from the University of Colorado Denver with a Masters in Education and Human Development, and a concentration in Early Childhood. I hold a Large Center Director Qualification with the State of Colorado, and was a preschool teacher for close to 8 years. Before that, I taught at and led environmentally-focused summer camps for young children in Maryland and Minnesota, and provided childcare for typically-developing children and those with special needs beginning when I was 12-years-old.
I must also mention that I grew up under the guidance of my brilliant mother, a parent educator in the Twin Cities for 25 years. Between my own professional life and her influence, it feels like founding Mighty Oaks was my destiny.
After working in the classroom for many years, I needed to find a venue through which to better serve the families of children in my care. Through casual conversations at pick-up and drop-off I recognized a real need in my community for parenting support, and yet being a full-time teacher, I lacked the time to share my knowledge and expertise. I began to dream of a way to make myself accessible, and to partner with parents, in an unhurried and genuine way. And voilà, Mighty Oaks was born!
I offer one-on-one coaching for parents and caregivers, as well as customized lectures and workshops in Minneapolis and the surrounding area.
When I'm not on the job, I can be found out on a walk along Mississippi River with my husband, sitting with embroidery, listening to public radio, or thrifting for vintage treasures.
